The Wex is a Research Laboratory for Contemporary Art

Located at The Ohio State University, the Wexner Center for the Arts multidisciplinary programs focus on cutting-edge culture from around the globe. The Wex programs propel creative discovery and fuel artistic expression.

Blank Space founders Riley and Mindi, first worked together as interns at the Wexner Center’s design studio. Riley designed this fun poster to promote the free Wex memberships for all students. The poster combines two staples of the college experience, psychedelia and Algebra. The popular “Unified Theory” campaign wittily presented the Wex’s offer, a membership that provides access to unique cultural encounters and experiences.

Over a decade later, this is still one of our favorite poster designs. It also was a big hit with the Art Center’s director, and she framed one for her office.

Chris Jones, Director of Design, provided a great working environment for us to apply our design ducation to real world projects. His design studio gave us creative freedom and respected the graphic design process. Working at the Wex was as stimulating and inspiring, as the many artists, programs, and art forms they present.
