I am a bit of a DIYer. I make my own stuff when it is cheaper or more fun than shopping. Most things are more fun than shopping for me. The web is indispensable for DIY. Instructables, Make, ReadyMade, LifeHacker, Youtube Google. With all these resources I can fix my car’s breaks, network my home-office, build a desk, replace RAM, bake bread, replace a cell-phone lcd, etc. I can do lots of things that would otherwise be way too technical. Even though I am exposed to all of these DIY resources I had never seen the Make Owner’s Manifesto until today. And it made me realize.
I have never owned a computer that I didn’t open. Ever.
If you can’t open it, it owns you.
