Introductions

Hi,

I’m Chris – Blank Space’s new intern. Since I will be writing regular blog posts during my time at Blank Space I thought I’d start by introducing myself.

I’ve spent the past 10 years dabbling in design while formally working in non-profit training overseas and retail management in the U.S. A few years back I decided to go back to school to formally study design and build the skills I had enjoyed using for years.

Why Blank Space?
To me, design is about communication – it is an applied art that serves somebody else’s need. It requires learning, discovery, and trust between a designer and their client. I applied for the internship position at Blank Space because I believe in the way that Mindi and Riley approach their clients and projects with respect and a willingness to take the time to understand their values and needs and translate that into a successful completed project – whether it is an advertising campaign or a web site design.

My Work
This is one of my favorite projects I’ve completed. It was a school project and photographer Richard Avedon took the images I used for this design.

More to come in future weeks!
